Heparin
Heparin is a member of the glycosaminoglycan family of carbohydrates, which are negatively charged, linear polysaccharides made up of an amino sugar and an uronic acid. The most common disaccharide unit in heparin is composed of a 2-O-sulfated iduronic acid and 6-O-sulfated, N-sulfated glucosamine, IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S). Heparin derivatives are heparin molecules that have been labeled or functionalized with thiol, amine, biotin and fluorescent dyes fluorescein, rhodamine, Cydye.
